La Sambuy, a family resort

Just 20 km from the l’Idéal campsite, it offers a wide range of activities for all ages, in summer and winter alike. Families who ski here in winter also appreciate the resort’s human scale, which contrasts with other ski resorts in the high mountains. The number of kilometers of ski runs and the number of ski lifts are lower, but still very good, and continue to attract many skiers with good snow conditions. During the snowy season, you can enjoy downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, ski touring, snowshoeing, sledding, yooning, snake gliding, snowboarding and 4-season sledging. There’s even a ski school! The ski area has 10 runs for all levels, a 4-seater chairlift, 3 drag lifts and a special beginners’ snow line, making it smaller than other nearby ski areas, but no less welcoming. There’s plenty to do in summer, too: the chairlift to the Combe de la Sambuy, 4-season tobogganing, hiking and the fun activities of tubby jumping, snow tubing and kart runix. A paradise for nature lovers, the Sambuy resort boasts a via ferrata, 2 climbing areas, a paragliding launch pad and 3 mountain pastures to visit.

Hiking in La Sambuy

La Combe de la Sambuy is accessible by chairlift from the bottom of the resort. At the summit, there are several hiking routes back to your starting point. A map of the different routes is available at the chairlift ticket office. Some trails lead to magnificent views of the massif, others to a visit to a family goat farm. The hikes are designed for all ages and abilities, with, for example, 10-minute walks to the orientation tables, a 45-minute loop on a botanical trail, and climbs to the belvedere lasting around an hour, or almost 2 hours round trip. Or opt for a 30-minute guided walk in the company of a mountain enthusiast who will tell you all about the area’s secrets. These walks are offered in the afternoons, every day except Wednesday. On Tuesday and Friday mornings, resort guides offer 2-hour guided tours of La Sambuy.

The Sambuy resort’s summer leisure activities have nothing to envy the range of activities on offer in winter. In addition to a wide range of thrill-seeking activities for all ages, from paragliding and rock-climbing to ski jumping and go-karting, you can also enjoy summer tobogganing: the ideal way to thrill your family and friends and get your adrenaline flowing. Your toboggan run includes 600 metres of forest trails with 9 bends. The 4-season tobogganing activity is accessible to children from 1.05 m tall. A single, sliding scale of charges is available for tobogganing, tubby jumping, snow tubing and runix karting, from 5.50 euros a lap to 185 euros for 50 laps. For even more thrills and fun, La Sambuy offers tobogganing with virtual reality helmets: pilot your toboggan through Egypt, American deserts and Inca temples!
